How to Start a Startup

The course curriculum will be based on the Stanford online course CS183B, a Y Combinator and Sam Altman course. Attendees will register for the course and be lead through 8 sessions with the likes of startup experts like Peter Thiel, Aaron Levie, and Reid Hoffman to discuss how to come up with ideas and evaluate them, how to get users and grow, how to do sales and marketing, how to hire, how to raise money, company culture, operations and management, business strategy, and more.

Class Format

Attendees will access the free Stanford curriculum and be assigned 1-2 sessions per week to take independently online. The class will then convene Wednesday evenings to review and discuss the materials, illustrated with case studies, and to get supplemental learning from the expert panel.

The course is 10 weeks in duration for the instructor led sessions. This class will be offered at the Davidson location. Davidson classes are on Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 8:00 PM each week starting on February 6, 2019 and ending April 17, 2019.  There will be future classes at the Winston Salem location.
