Lean Marketing Basics
This course helps entrepreneurs understand how to solve the toughest problem startups face – how to find customers, retain customers and build a brand experience that drives loyalty and referrals.
The class is offered in both instructor led and online only formats. The course is designed to help active startups and curious entrepreneurs apply lessons taught by marketing professionals to their own businesses and projects. The class will cover the basic ingredients of customer discovery, customer segmentation, building a marketing strategy, and implementing through the best and most cost effective channels to reach the customer.
The class uses the latest marketing frameworks. Lean marketing is an approach that has its roots in the lean startup methodology pioneered by Alexander Osterwalder, Eric Reis, Steve Blank, and others. Lean marketing is evolving but emphasizes customer focus, testing, and cost effective resources. Lean marketing will provide context for the course. Another framework will be used is inbound marketing framework pioneered by HubSpot and adopted by almost all startups today. Inbound methodology primarily emphasizes digital marketing though the course will include other techniques such as conferences, networking, etc. when it is a marketing technique that work for startups.
The instructor led course is 6 weeks in duration. The instructor led classes will be offered at both the Winston-Salem and Davidson locations. The courses in Winston Salem are on Monday nights from 5:30 – 7:30 PM each week starting on September 30, 2019 and ending on November 11, 2019. There will be no class on October 14th. The courses in Davidson are on Monday nights from 6:30 – 8:30 PM each week starting on September 30, 2019 and end on November 11, 2019. The first hour of the instructor led class will include lecture and review of course materials. The second hour of the course will be optional one on one assistance on student projects. Note the Winston-Salem location is planned to move to the new Flywheel location in early November.
